INTERCEPT™ PC Horizontal Cartridge Dust Collectors are intended for use in the removal of process dust from a wide variety of industrial applications. Removal efficiencies obtainable approach 99.9% depending upon application. These Horizontal cartridge dust collectors are self-cleaning or disposable pleated cartridge type for removing most types of industrial and foundry dusts from exhaust system air. Dirt, weld smoke, grindings and other contaminants that cause indoor air pollution can be cleaned from the plant environment. In many instances, the cleaned air may be returned back into the plant for substantial energy savings.
INTERCEPT™ PC Model Horizontal Cartridge Dust Collectors incorporate a unique diffusion system which inhibits abrasive particles from impinging on the filter element. Contaminated air enters the dust collector at a controlled velocity of 1,000 ft/min in a downward flow from the top. The air then travels through a horizontal diffuser rack designed to diffuse particulate away from the top cartridge filters thus reducing wear. The diffuser rack equally distributes contaminated air over the entire filter plenum. Contaminants are collected on the outside of the cartridge filters in the cartridge plenum. Clean air passes through the inner core to the clean air plenum and fan where it can be recirculated or discharged.
PULSE CLEANING PROCESS
Continuous Cleaning-Process: To prolong the life of the cartridge filters, each cartridge filter is cleaned by a high pressure pulse of airflow through the filter center. This ‘pulse’ of reverse airflow blows the collected dust off the outside of the filter cartridges and is collected in the hopper below. The pulse filter cleaning operation is pre-set to clean filters simultaneously while maintaining normal equipment operation. On-Demand Cleaning Process: To save expensive plant air, a sequencing pulse timer Photohelic Gage (provided as a standard feature) can be set to clean only when required by the level of collected contaminants. After Hours Cleaning Process: An off-timer is provided for continuous cartridge blowdown up to ten minutes after the fan operation is shut off. This allows for smaller particulate to be removed from the system and avoids re-entrainment.
NOTE: COMPRESSED AIR CONSUMPTION PERPULSE IS 3 SCF PER MODULE. PULSE SEQUENCINGIS FACTORY SET TO CLEAN INDIVIDUAL CARTRIDGE RACKS APPROXIMATELY EVERY 20 SECONDS. The Intercept design allows for access to the entire dirty air chamber through a single cartridge plenum access door. Filter change-out and chamber cleaning is accomplished without removing several doors or covers. On units up to model 3PC24, an integral exhaust fan assembly is installed in the clean air plenum. Where the exhaust fan is not integral to the unit, the clean air discharge opening can be sized to customer requirements and located anywhere on the clean air plenum section. Supplied integral exhaust fans are centrifugal flat bladed and backward inclined for maximum efficiency and limited load characteristics. All fans are mounted on a plug-in type motor and drive pedestal and are supplied with V-belt drives so that unit performance can be tuned to exact system requirements. Exhaust fans can be supplied external to the dust collector on any size unit. Consult the factory for assistance with a selection best suited for the application.
CARTRIDGE FILTERS SPECIFICATIONS
The Intercept cartridge filter media is an 80/20 blend of cellulose/polyester material. The media is enclosed by galvanized steel end caps and inner and outer cores constructed of 70% open expanded metal (other retainer types are available). The Inner and outer cores keep the media in place during an abrupt “pulse” of compressed air during blowdown. The cartridge gasketing is neoprene. (Other filter media types are available upon request.)
CABINET FEATURES:
The construction of the Intercept Cartridge Dust Collector is such that air leaks and dust ledges are minimized while still allowing ease of access for maintenance. The unit is supported at the customer’s required height by structural legs with cross bracing. The interior and exterior of the cabinet are coated with a high-quality primer that includes rust inhibitors, and the exterior is finished with a low-gloss acrylic final enamel coating. The design wind load rating is 100 m.p.h. (160 km/h).
Additional Unique Intercept design features include:
-Welded Construction Heavy Gauge Steel
-Common Filter Access Door
-Durethane® Mastic Heavy Duty Finish
-Clean Air Chamber Access Panel
-Welded Couplings (1” NPT) for Fire Control Equipment
-Cabinet Door Drip Guard
-Inlet Diffuser Rack
-Cartridge Covers
The benefits to you include:
Minimizes air leaks and dust ledges for ease of maintenance.
Results in longer service life.
Ease of filter change-out and full access to entire dirty air plenum for cleaning. Entire interior is visible.
Low gloss, tough weather resistant finish for extended service life. Allows for ease of maintenance on clean air side of unit.
Allows for connection of fire sprinkler system (if required).
Helps prevent weather from penetrating the cabinet seal.
Evenly distributes airflow into chamber thereby reducing cartridge erosion for longer service life.
Helps reduce the build-up of dust on top of the cartridges.
Standard controls include a programmable Cleaning Sequence Board, pilot valves and a Photohelic™ Gage. The Cleaning Sequence Board allows for frequency adjustment of the pulse filter cleaning operation. The Photohelic Gage is pre-set to allow high pressure air cleaning only when needed. When required, the motor controls are prewired and premounted in the cabinet.
STANDARD PURGE CONTROLS:
Solid State Sequence Timer Board
Off-Timer
Assembled Purge Hardware
Brass Bodied Fittings and Solenoid Valves
Photohelic Switch/Gage
NEMA 12 (Dustproof) or NEMA 4 (Weathertight) Enclosure
Purge as often or infrequently as required to save plant air yet keep filters clean.
To clean after hours thus avoiding most re-entrainment.
Purge hardware is ready to accept your 1”NPT compressed air line.
Better wear and longer life.
Cleans only when required to save plant air.
Protects all control components in a dustproof or Weathertight enclosure.
OPTIONAL MOTOR CONTROLS ARE:
Prewired and premounted in one cabinet and
Includes control transformer, motor starter, disconnect, function lights and start-stop pushbutton control switches all prewired in one cabinet for ease of installation. (NOTE: Pilot valves, timer and Photohelic gage are standard equipment.)Intercept Horizontal Cartridge Dust Collectors
